- The Underbelly series consists of two 13-part Australian television crime-drama mini-series' originally broadcast on Nine Network. The two series are based on true events; the Melbourne gangland killings and the Griffith drug trade. The first series is based on the book leadbelly:Inside Australis's Underworld,by the Age journalists John Silvester and Andrew Rule.A third series has began production and scheduled to air in early 2010.
